The Rajasthan government has clarified its stance on the issue of purchase of oxygen concentrators, days after the BJP accused it of buying them at inflated prices.

The Ashok Gehlot-led ruling dispensation has maintained that complete transparency was shown in the purchase of the oxygen concentrators.

"During the second wave of Covid-19 due to unavailability of medical oxygen global quotations were also invited. In this the rate received for 5 LPM oxygen concentrator with GST was Rs 1.1 lakh and the rate received for 10 LPM concentrator with GST was Rs 1.55 lakh. After negotiation this rate was decided as Rs 51,700 for five welcome concentrator and from Rs 79,095 to Rs 85,000 for 10 LPM concentrator,” a statement issued by the Health Department of Rajasthan government on Saturday mentioned.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had on Friday lashed out at the ruling Congress and accused the Ashok Gehlot-led government in Rajasthan of profiteering from the oxygen crisis in the state. Levelling corruption charges, the minister shared on Twitter a news report which claimed that the Rajasthan government had purchased oxygen concentrators at inflated prices even after a fall in demand.

“First Punjab, now Rajasthan #Pandemic profiteering is in vogue in @INCIndia ruled States. Bloated prices of O2 concentrators purchased by Rajasthan Govt reeks of corruption,” Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister, said in a tweet on Friday.

Targeting Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, Harsh Vardhan wrote, "@RahulGandhi Ji, drop white paper shenanigans & focus on these dark, murky dealings."

Several BJP leaders from Rajasthan and Centre have attacked the Ashok Gehlot-led government over the issue.

“Profiteering in tragedy, this thought is injurious sometimes; scam sometimes in masks, other times in concentrators. Chief Minister, people are watching and understanding everything. There is a reaction to every action,” said Dr Satish Poonia, BJP state president.

“Ashok Gehlot should now write a book with the title "Congress way of finding opportunity in crisis in which the chapter written by Gehlot government will definitely be the longest one and in future this will be famous as Congress legacy," said Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister and Jodhpur MP.
