balitribune.co.id |Karma Group is an award-winning international travel and lifestyle brand, offering extraordinary experiences in the most beautiful locations around the world, including in Indonesia where Karma Group operates more than 10 properties, the most on the island of Bali.Bali, which is a world-class tourist destination and has an economy that is almost entirely related to the tourism industry, is certainly greatly affected by the pandemic, which has lasted more than a year with a decline in international tourist arrivals to almost zero, even now.Even though it has not escaped the global economic downturn, as part of its social responsibility under the “KARMA CARES” program, Karma Group continues to support activities to help its staff and local communities in Indonesia during this pandemic. One of the golden keys in dealing with this pandemic is support for the expansion of the vaccination process, and Karma Group under the “Karma Vaccines” program, is proud to be the first hotel group in Bali to have all its staff vaccinated.A total of 1200 staff and their families have been vaccinated, including 600 local residents to ensure that the entire community surrounding the resort is properly vaccinated against COVID-19.Another key to success in handling this pandemic is “Testing and Tracing”, and so far Karma has covered the costs for periodic COVID-19 tests for all employees and their families, with costs that have been incurred to date amounting to USD $100,000.-.Since June 2020, Karma has given away thousands of food stamps for its staff.Food coupons worth Rp.600,000 per coupon is given to employees on top of the salary received each month. With this coupon, employees can buy basic necessities, such as rice, oil and others for their families.Whether they are working or not, employees are still given a decent wage. Most of Karma's properties are located in the southern part of Bali, around the Ungasan and Jimbaran areas. To help the communities and people living around the banjar, in July 2021 Karma distributed hundreds of bags of rice (each containing 5 kg of rice) to 4 banjars, namely Banjar Wijaya Kusuma (Ungasan) - Banjar Kerta Lestari (Ungasan), Banjar Sari Karya (Ungasan), and Banjar Ubung (Jimbaran).During the second peak of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia in July and August 2021, there has been a shortage of health facilities including oxygen supplies which are much needed in moderate and severe cases of COVID-19.Udayana University Hospital, which is located in the Jimbaran hills, between Jimbaran and Ungasan, and where Karma has three resorts and a large operational office, was experiencing a lack of oxygen supply. To fulfill this need, Karma Group took action and donated several units of Owgels OZ-501 GWO Oxygen Concentrator 10 L with German technology. This unit was handed over and accepted by Doctor Arya as Deputy Director of Udayana University Hospital.Exceeding the requirements for the CHSE Covid-19 protocol, Karma Group also purchased several units of oxygen concentrators that were prepared for its employees and guests if needed at any time.In an emergency they can be taken to the hospital in their own oxygen concentrator, without having to wait for the unit to become available.Through the “KARMA CARES” program, Karma Group hopes to help save lives in Bali.As John Spence, Chairman and Founder of Karma Group puts it, “Bali is a special place for Karma, and we are happy to support its people, sharing with those who have contributed to our success.”
