The American India Foundation (AIF), with the support of Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Mastercard, recently opened a 100-bed portable integrated care center at the Ayurvedic and Unani Tibia College and Hospital in New Delhi . The second wave, which began in April 2021, was far more severe, challenging public health systems with severe oxygenation deficiencies and resulting in unprecedented numbers of morbidity.

The Portable Care Center consists of a durable, weather-resistant, all-terrain inflatable PVC structure supported by an on-site hybrid oxygen generator. Each unit is also supported as a turnkey solution ready to run with infrastructure such as furniture/air conditioning/toilets. Professor K Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, said: Government efforts are complemented by partnerships with industry and non-governmental organizations aimed at retrofitting existing hospital infrastructure to improve intensive care.

To prepare for the future, there is a great need for expansion of the medical system to include hospital beds with ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and other medical supplies to meet current and future crises of this kind. The newly modernized Ayurvedic and Unani Tibia College and Hospital facility has 82 oxygen bed units and 18 intensive care bed units. The portable facility is 100% oxygenated and will improve the hospital’s ability to treat and care for those affected by COVID-19.

This includes promoting state systems in ways that are only required of state governments. AIF’s initiative is to have several hospitals established or open for business this month. To achieve the goals of all these partnerships, it is important to maintain the momentum and learn from these experiences. ” At the inauguration of the facility, Delhi Health Minister Hon’ble Shri Satyendar Jain thanked “the American India Foundation and all the people who have donated to build this hospital for humanity”.

“To ensure sustained support and preparedness for future emergencies, AIF is working with state and local governments and other civil society organizations to provide critical support during this crisis. Partnering with state governments to expand healthcare infrastructure is part of our core strategy for COVID-19 relief.

At the event In his speech, he said: Through this facility, the government intends to increase and maintain the capacity of the medical infrastructure of Delhi’s hospitals given the situation that has occurred in the past due to the surge in COVID cases. His R.K. Manchanda, Director of Dr. AYUSH, said: The hospital was made possible by the American India Foundation and supported by Mastercard, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs. Thank you to everyone who participated in this humanitarian project. ”
